Policies

What to know before you book, in plain words.

Booking and deposits

Book on the online calendar, or call and leave a message. There is no deposit: a card holds your time, and it's used only for a late cancellation or a missed visit. You pay for the session itself at the studio.

Canceling and running late

Please give 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or move a session, so someone else can have the hour. If you're ill, call and we'll move it. If you're running late, the session still ends at its usual time so the next person isn't kept waiting.

If you miss an appointment

If you miss a session without telling Fran, the card on file is used for the missed hour. Weather is the exception: if the road is bad, call and we'll find another day.

Children and companions

Massage here is for adults, and the studio is a quiet one-room space, so please come on your own. A friend or family member is welcome to wait on the porch.

Patch tests and allergies

No patch test is needed. Fran uses an unscented oil or lotion unless you ask for something else, and she can tell you everything in it. Tell her when you book about a nut or fragrance allergy. Scent is only ever in the air, never on your skin.

Redos and refunds

If a session wasn't right, tell Fran within a week and she'll look at it with you.

Tipping

Tips are welcome and never expected. You can add one when you pay at the studio.

Undressing and draping

You undress to your comfort, and a sheet and blanket cover you for the whole session. Only the part being worked on is uncovered, and it's covered again before Fran moves on. She leaves the room while you get on the table and knocks before she comes back.

Pressure, consent and stopping

Before you start, Fran asks about pressure and anything to leave alone. Tell her at any time to go lighter or firmer. You can pause, change position or end the session for any reason, and she stops right away.

When to ask your doctor first

If you're pregnant, have had surgery or an injury recently, or aren't sure massage is right for you right now, ask your doctor before you book. Fran may suggest it too. This is therapeutic massage, and she doesn't diagnose.
